Itinerary
Begin your adventure with a scenic journey to Mombasa. Upon arrival, enjoy a warm welcome and smooth transfer to your accommodation. Students will participate in an orientation session, covering the schedule, safety guidelines, and an introduction to the coastal environment. In the evening, gather for your first group dinner and overnight stay.
After breakfast, step back in time with a visit to Fort Jesus, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that tells the story of Mombasa’s colonial past and maritime significance. Wander through Old Town, where narrow streets, carved wooden doors, and bustling markets bring Swahili culture to life. Capture photos at Pembe Za Ndovu (Elephant Tusks) while learning about their cultural symbolism. Students gain an interactive understanding of history and architecture.
Today focuses on coastal and marine ecosystems. Explore the Mombasa Marine National Park and embark on a glass-bottom boat ride, observing vibrant coral reefs and exotic marine species. Students engage in hands-on learning about marine conservation, biodiversity, and sustainable practices. Later, enjoy a swim or relax on the pristine white-sand beaches, combining fun with learning.
Experience the thrill of Kenya’s wildlife with an optional excursion to Tsavo East or Tsavo West National Park. Observe majestic elephants, giraffes, zebras, and other native species in their natural habitats. Guided discussions on ecosystems and conservation efforts provide practical environmental education. Return to Mombasa for dinner and overnight stay, reflecting on the wonders of Kenya’s wildlife.
Dive deeper into coastal culture with visits to local communities, learning about Swahili traditions, cuisine, and livelihoods. Students explore local industries such as spice farms, fishing, and artisan workshops, gaining insight into the region’s economic and cultural heritage. Evening at leisure at the accommodation allows students to relax and bond.
After breakfast, visit Haller Park (Bamburi Nature Trail), a rehabilitated ecosystem that showcases wildlife conservation and ecological restoration. Students walk along nature trails, observe animals, and engage in discussions about environmental protection and sustainability. The afternoon is reserved for beach activities, reflection, and group learning exercises.
Conclude the study tour with a morning reflection session, allowing students to share their experiences and key learnings. After breakfast, check out and transfer to Nairobi (or onward destination), leaving with lasting memories of Mombasa’s history, culture, marine life, and wildlife.
